School: What Worked and What Didn't
I realize that this document is long overdue but there is a good reason why I wanted to wait before writing it. I think it would have been almost impossible to give you a clear picture of what's involved had I not waited until the year is almost over. It was necessary to give school staff the time to adjust and implement some new policies that had not been factored in previous years. I also wanted to be able to say that the school year, thankfully, has gone relatively smooth. I will provide an outline of what we did at school to keep our child safe. Please keep in mind that the process set in place is specific to my child who is allergic to dairy, eggs and nuts. Different allergies will often dictate special allowances and some circumstances may be different. Please be advised that everything mentioned on this web site is specific to my family's situation and my child's allergies. What may have worked in this school may not necessarily work in your child's school. It's best to view this information as a general guideline or foundation to build upon. Please do not take my word as gospel - I am only human and so are the people I work and deal with. Within the following documents, you will find tips and other information about what worked for our family and the school.
